Art and Life
Due to the relentless and all-round exhausting reduction of funding available to the performing arts journal Maska, I was forced to combine two issues – Autumn and Winter, which are usually published as two separate double issues – of the journal’s Volume XXIX into one joint volume.
Hence, this issue of the journal is, exceptionally, quadruple and, as a consequence, heftier and more comprehensive. This editorial gesture, which, in itself, is not particularly unusual, is (unfortunately) also an announcement that, in the transition from 2014 to 2015, the international journal Maska is changing from a quarterly into a triannual publication.
In 2015, (only) three double issues of Maska will be published. And it will remain so until our financial situation – which depends, vitally, on state funding, most notably the subvention provided by the Slovenian Book Agency [Javna agencija za knjigo Republike Slovenije] – improves and reaches, at least, the level of funding from 2013.
