The Cadastre of Transient Spaces: Our Thing IV
In March, Our Thing returns with a concrete proposal. If at previous meetings we were still asking where spaces actually are, who has access to them, and why this is all so complicated, we are now moving a step further: we are putting a concrete model on the table. We present the System of Available Spatial Capacities (SPPZ*) — a pilot proposal that arises from a very simple question: what happens to spaces when they are not in use, and can they be opened in a more meaningful and fair way?
The model proposes temporary, non-commercial use of surplus capacities within public cultural infrastructure for rehearsals, research, or project development, with clear rules and without co-production obligations.
SPPZ is not a proposal for content or co-production collaboration, but rather an attempt to establish a transparent and transferable system that would move beyond the logic of exceptions and ad hoc solutions, enabling more equitable use of public spaces. SPPZ is not a magical solution to all challenges, but it is a concrete attempt to move from endless debates into practice — in a pilot form that is open and adaptable.
The event is intended for everyone interested in how public spaces can truly become public — and usable — whether as managers or users.
The pilot project will be presented by Tibor Mihelič Syed (Kino Šiška). The assembly will be moderated by him together with Dragana Alfirević (NDA Slovenija).
