About the author
Katarina Stegnar (1976) is an actress, performer, mover, researcher, designer, who has been an active presence on the Slovenian theatre scene since 1999. Her creativity has made a particular mark on the independent scene – she is one of the most active contributors to Via Negativa, a platform for the research, development and production of contemporary performing arts, a member of the Betontanc group and its spin-off, the Beton Ltd. collective, She has collaborated and is collaborating with Glej Theatre, Anton Podbevšek Theatre, SNG Drama Ljubljana, E.P.I. Centre, Wax Factory, Dance Theatre Ljubljana, Ex-Ponto, Masko, etc., and since 2002 also with Mladinsko, where she joined the company in December 2014. In 2017, together with her cast mates from the play The Man Who Watched the World, she received the Borštnik Award for Acting, and in 2016 the Prešeren Fund Award for her roles in Mladinski’s productions (Pavla nad prepadom, Vsi heroaki zbrani and Rokova brurina) and for projects on the independent scene (Revolt is not a Man by the collective Beton Ltd. In 2007 she won the Veljko Maričić Award for Best Young Actress at the International Small Stage Festival in Rijeka for her role of Tjaša in Fragile!, and in 2005 she won the Golden Bird Award for the role of Tjaša at the International Festival of Small Stages in Rijeka.
