Gregor Moder: ANTIGONE
“How can reading Antigone help us to overcome the problems of the modern world? It cannot help us at all.” The opening emphasis of philosopher Gregor Moder’s essay, which he performs together with Katarina Stegnar, seems to call into question the point of what they are doing. But philosophy likes to rummage where rummaging seems pointless, and what is more, it is also there that it usually unearths the most valuable insights. In the never-ending task of understanding the moment, this time we will help ourselves with Sophocles, Hegel, a die, and a spade. Without the latter, we cannot start digging.
