Fever
In his first international co-production, Žiga Divjak addresses the climate crisis as well as the inextricably intertwined issues of class and (neoliberal) capitalism. He reflects on the concept of growing up, the feeling of anger that almost everyone who delves into environmental issues feels, and whether it is justifiable to resort to violence to stop the destructive spiral.
The play is structured as a discussion in which the actors debate the culprits of the inevitable ecological catastrophe and the role of neoliberal capitalism in it, the whole intertwined with personal stories …
For years, Mladinsko has been working continuously with some of the most prestigious festivals and theatres in Europe; theatres dedicated to contemporary culture and critical analysis of the social and political context. The steirischer herbst Festival is certainly one of them. Founded in 1968, it turned to the tradition of international modernism as a response to the strengthening of nationalist cultural initiatives at that time. It succeeded in shocking the audience and awakening them from their complacency. Since then, it has remained a platform for new art, sparking a wide public debate in a variety of fields and media.

Heat in the Media
Nina Gostiša: The elites must be forced to act
Delo / 13 October 2021
Gregor Butala: At what point are we going to resist?
Dnevnik / 14 October 2021
This thematic orientation which deals with the issues of the ecological crisis, the dictatorship of capital, and the increasing dehumanization of society, among others, can be traced back to Divjak’s academic productions, and over the years it has become more and more sharply focused in terms of performance and message; this is perhaps especially true in the case of Fever, which makes no secret of the fact that it is, first and foremost, a call for change – and it is quite direct in this respect.
Lara Paukovič: Tick tock, tick tock
Mladina / 15 October 2021
Kaja Komar: The cry of humanity suffocating in a predatory system
Večer / 28 October 2021
“The show wants to act as a kind of a cry of humanity suffocating because of the state of the world, which is a direct consequence of the exploitative, predatory system in which we live.”
