Up to Nature
K naravi / Up to Nature is the title of the subject that is the central topic of this 2013 spring issue of Maska. This time, we focus on in-depth considerations of the ecological cultural productions and topics in the performing arts of the last few years, and on the complex relationships between ecology and artistic practices, with a special emphasis on performances created in the summer of 2012 in different natural environments in the framework of the international partner project Up to Nature.
Maska took part in the project on the initiative of Thomas Frank from the Viennese production house brut, while our board contributed an article about the international festival HISTeRIA, organised above the village of Gračišče in Slovenian Istria, which gathers crowds of artists from all over the world each summer: musicians, artists, puppeteers, dancers, performers, acrobats, clowns, visual artists and storytellers meet there to share their stories, knowledge and art with the festival’s visitors.
