The Nomenclature Of Space
This year’s first issue of the magazine sets out in search of spaces presented to us by contemporary art. Which spaces does art open up at present? Into which spaces does it invite us? In what way and which spaces does it materialise at all? Where lays the reason for the prevalence of art projects, festivals and events that are bound to specific locations, which traditionally do not pertain to individual disciplines? When thinking about art and space today, it is crucial that we do not think merely through the aesthetically motivated principles and methods.
The theme of space is motivated also with the production logic of contemporary art, where the choice of space or its articulation occupies the dimension of a political gesture. In the new issue of Maska magazine, you can thus read all about the nomenclature of space with contributions by Tomaž Toporišič, Aldo Milohnić, Mojca Puncer, Tiago Bartolomeu Costa, Claire Bishop and others. Among other, you can also read reflections on the performances by Simona Semenič, Ann Liv Young and the audiovisual event FeedForward Cinema. We are also very happy to welcome two new columnists Marina Gržinić and Stefan Kaegi
